REPORTER

NYVT Media—a community publisher of multiple titles in Upstate NY/Western VT and Massachusetts is seeking a a reporter to cover the stories that matter most to our readers here in Washington County, NY.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Write compelling, well-researched and engaging stories that captivate our readers
  • Cover a wide range of topics, including local government meetings, community events, human interest stories, and more
  • Coverage areas include Granville, Whitehall and neighboring communities in Washington County, NY
  • Attend community events, meetings and press conferences to stay up-to-date with the latest happenings
  • Collaborate with editors and fellow reporters to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Utilize various media platforms, including print, online and video to reach a diverse audience

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications or a related field (equivalent experience will be considered)
  • Proven experience in reporting, preferably with a community newspaper or similar publication
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for grammar and AP style
  • Familiarity with Washington County, NY, is a big plus
  • Strong research and investigative abilities, with a commitment to fact-checking and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in digital media tools and social media platforms, but we are willing to train
  • A genuine interest in community news and a desire to make a positive impact
  • Reliable transportation is a must
